Landscape Design

A well-designed landscape can increase the value of a property and have a dramatically affect the owner's enjoyment of an outdoor space. If you are thinking about having a design completed, Old South has a structured creative process in which this is achieved with its clients. Here's how it works:

1. Design Consultation

The design process begins with a consultation between the client and the Old South's Landscape Designer/Horticulturist, Kate Hodgins. It is at this point where the scope and size of the project is discussed, and the client's vision for the property is determined. Together, Kate and the client will also discuss the client's long term goals for the landscape. (Sometimes a client may be looking to invest in comprehensive landscape that will be completed over the course of a few years, while another client may choose to complete the landscape that summer.) The budget for the installation is also confirmed during this consultation.

2. Site Analysis

Landscape Designer (Kate) determines the lay of the land and gathers all necessary measurements from the property.

3. Concept

An initial concept is drawn up and presented to the client. Changes and recommendations are made, and the plan then returns to the design studio for revisions.

4. Landscape Plan

A final 'master plan' is presented to the client, and it then becomes the property of both the client and of Old South. The client is then free to undertake the installation on their own or to have a landscape company look after the details of implementing the design.
