Bren Silk, Director of Operations
A true entrepreneur, Bren started Old South Lawn, Garden & Construction while attending the University of Western Ontario in 2006. Since then, Bren has built Old South from a humble one-man team to a full-service landscaping company.
With a natural ability for developing strong, cohesive teams, Bren has added several professionals to the company over the years, and works hard to create an enjoyable place for them to come each morning. With over 10 years of industry experience, Bren manages all operations and client relations for the business, and will most likely be the person who answers the phone when you call. A strong believer that landscaping can be one of the most cost-effective ways to increase a home's curb appeal, Bren also teaches a course for local REALTORS® on how to create a landscape that will pay for itself.
When the work day is done, Bren can often be found practicing bluegrass music, either on his banjo, fiddle or guitar.
Megan Silk, Director of Marketing
With the decision to launch Old South Lawn, Garden & Construction in 2006, Megan was inspired to use her communications background to create a one of a kind experience for their clients. A small-town girl at heart, Megan fell in love with London's Old South neighbourhood and the friendly atmosphere of Wortley Village. As newlyweds, she and Bren made Old South London their home, and together decided to bring that same approachable feel to their new company.
A graduate of Media Studies program at the University of Western Ontario, Megan manages Old South's marketing strategy and enjoys planning staff events (educational or fun!) whenever possible.
In her spare time, Megan can be found sipping wine in her garden, or goofing around with her two Cocker Spaniel pups, Scout and Ranger.
Kate Hodgins, Landscape Designer & Horticulturist
With a passion for lifelong learning, Kate is both a Landscape Designer and a Horticulturist, also holding a degree in Integrated Land Planning Technologies and a diploma in Parks and Outdoor Recreation.
As Old South's newest team member, Kate is excited to have returned from Toronto to her hometown of London, Ontario, where she has taken the lead as Old South's Landscape Designer and Horticulturist. Kate's extensive education allows her to approach problems from both industry and public perspectives, while her customer service background allows her to be confident and approachable when helping clients design their ideal landscape. In her free time, Kate enjoys traveling, back-country camping, spending time with friends and family or being entertained by her crazy pets.
